GENERAL ENROLLMENT
How do students enroll in Bloomfield Hills Schools?
Enrollments must be completed - in person - by a parent or legal guardian. For more information, please refer to Instructions for Resident Student Enrollment or Instructions for Tuition Student Enrollment.
May I turn-in the enrollment forms at my child's building?
No. Enrollment documents must be turned in at the Student Services office.
At what age can a student be enrolled?
Students must be at least five years old and less than twenty years old on or before December 1 of the year of enrollment in order to enroll in the Bloomfield Hills Schools regular program, except for disabled students enrolled in the SEED Program. How do students enroll in the International Academy?
The International Academy has a separate enrollment procedure. Please refer to www.iatoday.org for
more information. Resident students who are not currently attending a BHS
school but have been accepted into The International Academy should also refer
to Instructions
for Resident Student Enrollment.
BIRTH CERTIFICATES
What is a "Certified" copy of a birth certificate?
A "certified" copy has a raised seal and must be obtained through city or county offices.
Do you keep the "Certified" copy of the birth certificate?
No. A copy of the birth certificate will be made for the student’s records and the original returned.
Where do I get a "Certified" copy of a birth certificate?
Copies may be obtained through the city and/or county of birth. Birth certificates from Oakland County may be requested online. Go to www.co.oakland.mi.us and select "Online Services" for more information.
IMMUNIZATIONS
Why is there so much fuss about immunizations?
State law prohibits a school district from enrolling a student who has incomplete immunization information, unless a waiver is signed. To ensure compliance, state funding may be partially withheld if new students do not have current/complete immunization records on file with the school.
May I fax my child's immunization record?
Yes. Please include the name of the school your child attends and their birth date.
Does the county forward immunization records to the school?
No. It is the responsibility of the student/parent to provide immunization documentation.
Can I get my child immunized through the county?

Why did my sixth grade student get a letter even though he/she is not a new student?
The state audits the immunization record of every sixth grade student, regardless of enrollment date.
BUSSING
Will the bus pick-up my child or will they be required to walk?
The majority of students in the Bloomfield Hills Schools have bus transportation available to them. For specific route information, contact the Transportation Department at 248.341.6290.
Where will the bus pick-up my child?
Bus routes are set shortly before school starts in August and letters with route information are sent to students/parents. For specific route information, contact the Transportation Department at 248.341.6290.
Will transportation be provided a child enrolled as a tuition student?
No. Tuition students (and their families) are responsible for providing their own transportation.
KINDERGARTEN
May I choose morning or afternoon?
Because class placement is done at the student's school, placement requests should be communicated to the main office/school principal. However, the class assignment includes many factors and not all requests may be honored.
Is Extended Day Enrichment for Kindergarten (EDK) every day?
Yes. The EDK program is voluntary, full-week enrichment program. There is no part-time enrollment option. For registration and fee information, please refer to Extended Day Enrichment for Kindergarten.
What about the Vision Exam?
By state mandate, every incoming kindergarten student must have had a vision test held after the age of three and one half (3 1/2). A certificate from the examining official should be submitted with the enrollment paperwork for all kindergarten students. What time does school start?

RESIDENCY
According to my address, which school should my child attend?
Please refer to the District Map (http://www.novoprint.com/BloomfieldHills/ZMap1.html), School of Attendance by Address (http://enrollment.bloomfield.org/search_index.html) or direct attendance boundary questions to the Student Services office at 248.341.6390. What is required to prove residency?
One of the following documents is required to prove residency:
- Recent Property Tax Statement
- Current Lease/Rental Agreement **
- Closing Statement from a recently executed purchase
** Leases must be notarized unless a management company/apartment complex handles the property
AND
Three of the following documents are required to prove residency:
- Employer / Tax Statements
- Bank/Credit Card Statements
- Car Insurance Statement
- Utility Bills (no cell phones bills)
Is Bloomfield Hills Schools a School of Choice district?
No. Bloomfield Hills Schools is a tuition district. As a tuition district, BHS accepts qualifying non-resident students. For enrollment and fee information, please refer to the Tuition Overview and Instructions for Tuition Student Enrollment or call 248.341.6380.
MOVING WITHIN THE DISTRICT
What do I need to do if I move to a new home within Bloomfield Hills Schools?
Appropriate "Proof of Residency" (see above) must be submitted to Student Services or the school office. Addresses will not be changed until documentation is received.
May my child continue attending the building they do now even after we move and change attendance areas within the district?
Yes. Simply include a note with your residency documentation.
Will you automatically enroll my child in the new building if we move and change attendance areas within the district?
No. It is assumed that your child will remain in their current building until their education at that building is complete. If you would like to change buildings, please complete a Transfer Request. (See Open Enrollment/Transfer Requests for more information.)

Student Services is located at 7273 Wing Lake Road in the Support Services building. Office hours are 8:00 am 11:30 am and 1:00 pm 4:00 pm. During the month of August Student Services/Central Enrollment is open between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. General enrollment questions may be directed to 248.341.6380.
